Downtown Fremont Inc. is in the process of creating another installment in the River Wall Mural near the railroad tracks by the State Street Bridge heading east. This mural is a continuation of a Public Arts Program that Downtown Fremont Inc. hopes to be a long term community mural art project in Fremont, Ohio. The mural will be a creation of local artists who have a desire to bring art and beauty.
This River Wall Mural is 26 feet in length by 5 feet in height. The art is designed and will be painted by the chosen artist that will create the vivid mural for walkers and motorists to see for years to come. Emma Lehmann of Doodle Den Designs has been chosen to create ‘Stained Glass Cabbage’, which is going to be a bright addition to our growing downtown. She is looking forward to the additional artists that will come to the area when the call goes out for more art to be added along the wall.
Emma Lehmann is a self-taught artist with a love of bright colors and whimsical design. She is also the co-owner of The Open House at 108 S Front Street which is a collaboration of local art, crafts and unique gifts.
The Fremont Company, Snow Floss Kraut and Frank’s Kraut celebrating 110 years are the sponsor of this panel.
The second panel of the River Wall Mural is ‘We ♥ Fremont’ which is 26 feet in length by 5 feet in height. Chris Robinette is a Fremont native, who moved away for school and work, but has recently returned to and is very much enjoying “reconnecting” with his hometown.
After studying Engineering and Industrial Design, Chris had a 30+ year career as a product designer and business leader, working for both fortune 500 companies like Nike and Dell Technologies, and smaller startups in Silicon Valley to develop highly successful product teams and award winning products.
Chris and his wife have recently started a new business focusing on property renovation and design. After renovating the Christy House in Fremont into an event venue in 2020, they are now splitting their time between new renovation projects and interior design for other clients.
The mural is based on a simple concept, that Fremont is a great place to live. ‘We ♥ Fremont’ will hopefully be a daily reminder for everyone who sees it.
The plan is to complete the mural with the help of Hands of our Future, a local Fremont organization focused on providing services to support and mentor Fremont youth.
All proceeds from the Public Arts Program in Downtown Fremont, goes toward the River Wall Mural Project.
Stay tuned to the Downtown Fremont Inc.’s Facebook Page for pictures and videos of the mural being created and painted. Completion of these projects will be late fall of 2023.
