Our Vision: A world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty housing. Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found hope in the form of affordable-not free-housing. Churches, community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem—to provide decent housing for all.Â
Since its inception, Habitat for Humanity has built or repaired over 1 million homes, serving more than 5 million people worldwide. Locally, our affiliate has built or repaired more than 30 homes. We are growing our affiliate and increasing our capacity for this work more than ever, with 3 homes currently in various building stages, and one set for groundbreaking this fall.Â
While Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, the Sandusky County affiliate was founded in 1989 and will be celebrating our 35th anniversary with a year of events and commemorations beginning in October of 2023 with World Habitat Day on October 2, 2023.Â
